Our Story
Worthy was founded in 2014 when a group of like-minded individuals realized that there was a massive untapped diamond mine sitting in the jewelry boxes of millions of people across the country. Millions of dollars worthy of diamonds, fine jewelry, and luxury watches went unworn and untouched by their owners. Why was something so valuable just sitting collecting dust? The answer was clear: there were no good selling options available. Traditional avenues such as pawn shops and consignment stores weren’t able to offer jewelry owners a fair price for their items and local jewelers rarely purchased pre-owned items. On top of that, many jewelry owners had no idea what their jewelry was worth – appraisals and evaluations are meant for insurance purposes rather than resale, after all.
The newly formed Worthy team set out to create something truly unique that would disrupt the fine jewelry industry. The team worked together to develop an auction platform that would connect jewelry sellers with professional diamond buyers – buyers who understood diamond properties and were able to offer true market value on diamonds and jewelry based on that information.
In the years since the Worthy team has grown tremendously to include offices and employees around the world. Worthy has designed a process that gives sellers the ability to easily sell their jewelry from the comfort of home, remaining in contact with our team and in-control throughout the selling process, resulting in a speedy transaction and quick payment.
